KEDAH CHIEF MINISTER UNVEILS DISCOVER KEDAH 2016 CAMPAIGN MATERIALS

Kedah Chief Minister YAB Dato' Seri Hj. Mukhriz Tun Mahathir has unveiled a range of promotional tools that have been created for the Discover Kedah 2016 campaign. The campaign, which will initially target audiences in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei and Indonesia, aims to educate potential visitors about the state of Kedah and its rich history and traditions.

In addition to unveiling a stunning three minute marketing video, the Chief Minister also highlighted the new Discover Kedah 2016 website, www.discover-kedah.my and www.facebook.com/discoverkedah2016 and various other tools including a Discover Kedah Instagram account, magazine and newspaper advertisements, brochures and promotional items.

“Over the next months we hope that the integrated advertising, public relations and digital/social media initiatives that comprise the Discover Kedah 2016 campaign will attract visitors not only from Malaysia itself but also from overseas. We believe that the Discover Kedah 2016 brand identity, which includes a visual link to the ‘Malaysia: Truly Asia’ identity, will complement Tourism Malaysia?s e orts to promote Malaysia and we hope that we can roll it out in additional markets as
time progresses. Internationally Langkawi is the best known destination in Kedah, but we believe that there are many other great places to visit in Kedah that also deserve recognition and promotion,” Dato' Seri Mukhriz added.

Kedah Darul Aman (Abode of Peace) is one of the oldest civilizations in Southeast Asia. Centuries before Borobudur and Angkor Wat… and long before Malacca, Kedah’s Bujang Valley was a thriving trading capital in this part of the world. Before Malaysia became known as ‘Truly Asia’, Kedah was already a destination that was ‘Truly Asia’. Blessed with unique natural beauty – from mountains, rivers, jungles, paddy fields to islands of ancient myths and legends – there’s so much waiting to be discovered. Aside from nature, Kedah is also home to talented and accomplished people who have contributed to Malaysia’s growth in the areas of arts, literature, music, religion, business, politics and more. Our first and fourth Prime Ministers are also from Kedah. Fondly known as the “Rice Bowl of Malaysia”, Kedah’s rice plains produce more than half of Malaysia’s homegrown rice supply. It has also seen rapid growth in the high-technology industry to further support the economy of the state.

Among the Top 10 attractions in Kedah include Alor Setar, Gunung Jerai, Sungai Sedim & The Tree Top Walk, Ulu Legong Hot Spring, Ulu Muda Eco Park, Sungai Merbok River Cruise, Bujang Valley
Archaeological Museum, Paddy Museum, Langkawi Island and Homestay.

Rich in history, natural beauty and tradition, it’s time the world fell in love with Kedah – Where it All Began.
